Step 1 :
After having removed the fastening screws of the axis and brake drum,
put the skate on the side with the axis overhanging the edge of the support.

Step 2 :
Use a central awl or a similar tool to insert it into the extremity of the axis.
The tool must be rather small to slip into the hole,
and to leave sufficient play not to damage the threading of the screws.

Step 3 :
With a small hammer and the awl, type the axis.

Step 4 :
Check that the axis does not ridge against the support during handling.

Step 5 :
You can need to deflate the tire to remove the wheel of the frame.
(particularly for the front tires because the casings of axis are spaced).
Note a shorter cartridge of axis on the back.
Now, as regards the aft wheel,
the system of brake can be withdrawn from the hub of wheel in only one part.

Step 6 :
If you replace the aft wheel without the system of brake,
take care to use discs or spacers of adapted dimension,
to compensate for the difference of the removed brake drum (1/8 in.)
Assure that the disc beside the bearing of wheel is replaced on its site of origin.

Step 7 :
It may be that you must align the spacer located inside the hub of wheel
to allow to pass the axis (this spacer can move,
and if it is not centered, will not allow the axis to pass by the hub).
You can see the spacer inside the hub of wheel,
and you will see easily if it is not centered.
Your awl can help to align and to centre the sparcer.

Step 8 :
Use the central awl or a mallet to type the axis again in the frame.
Avoid beating directly on the extremities of the axis with a hard hammer.
